Growing areal : Widely widespread throughout the central-southern Europe.
Environment: It lives in the hills and mountains in beech groves than with other wood species. It thrives in soils of different nature, even if limestone. It adapts to any exposure.
Trunk; logs and tissues: They can reach heights of 35 meters with diameters at breast height, that reaches 140 cm. The tunks are straight, but often with regular internal stresses which, after the cut, splits and cracks generated that stats from log heads.

Texture : Fine.
Fiber: Mostly straight.
Grain: not so evident.
Color : Uniform and white. When vaporized, it becomes brownish-pink.
